Leviticus 17

so i'm reading through the Bible, starting at "In the beginning..." and ending with "Amen." so today was Leviticus 17 (as if you hadn't already figured that out). now, if you've ever read Leviticus you'll know that it's mostly laws that God gave to Moses regarding how the Israelites were to live.

chapter 17 really jumped out at me today. it's title: "Laws About Eating Blood." pretty gross right? i don't know why anyone would want to eat blood anyway, but whatever. instead of quoting the chapter, go pick up a Bible and read verses 10-16 yourself (please). come back when you're done...

...done? good. did Christ's blood come to mind while you were reading?

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life." (v.11)

i find that interesting...

Yea, that is good insight - the whole book is full of such things. It foreshadows our worship of Christ and his atonement for us. It is amazing just how precise God is about how we should worship him in Leviticus. It isn't so much about people accepting God or being pleased with the worship event, but does God accept you and is he pleased with the worship event?
People often joke about how hard Leviticus is to read and wanting to skip over it, but I recently found it absolutely wonderful for precisely the type of reasons you mentioned.

Amazing, isn't it? The boys and I started reading through the OT and were amazed at all the good things "hidden" in Leviticus through Deuteronomy that people usually skip over. We're in Judges now and instead of reading it in the morning, we're reading through with Chuck in the evenings...just wait, it gets better!

Christ is all throughout scripture. How I wish I could have discovered it as young as you! Keep reading, girl. You are blessed!
